Built and managed
Scoped as an ongoing service
A defined application, workflow or AI system built for a specific job. Studio hosts and maintains it under an ongoing agreement, with the scope, support, usage and changes agreed in advance.

Office Review
For a brief that is not yet clear. Ten working days to examine the current workflow, test one change in a demonstration prototype and return a scoped next step. The prototype is not a production system.
Fixed fee, agreed before it starts
A review is one starting point. A clearly scoped product project can proceed to a build proposal.
Two of these formats have pages of their own, with their own scope.
Hosting, model usage, licences, data access and ongoing support are agreed separately where relevant.
The practice
Office Studio is led by PJ Roch. He works across product design, software engineering and the systems that make digital products run. Projects are led directly, with specialist collaborators brought in when the scope requires them.
PJ’s previous product work spans CRM, commerce, digital operations and consumer products, including work with organisations such as lululemon, Dext, Everpress and Sofar Sounds.
Alongside Office Studio, PJ develops websites, software, games and physical product studies. His iPhone products are demonstrated at machinestud.io.
Principles
The smallest coherent system
More software is the usual answer and rarely the right one. We look for the fewest connected parts that carry the work.
Taste is operational
How a business looks and how it runs are the same question asked twice. A considered surface over a chaotic system does not hold.
Judgement stays human
Automation earns its place on defined, repetitive work. Decisions that need judgement keep a person in them.
Ownership and operation
Before work starts, we agree who controls the code, accounts and data, who maintains the software and what happens when the engagement ends. That applies whether Studio hands it over or continues to run it.
Office Studio works with a small number of businesses at a time, with every engagement led directly by PJ Roch.
Why it exists
Established businesses rarely lack effort or expertise. They lack a system that carries either one reliably. The gap shows up in the work their customers and their team do every day, which is where a project starts.
